PAPA ROACH--the ultimate in Rock Stardom! by Liz Buza
Papa Roach can only be defined as the ultimate Rock Stars after their unbelieveable performance on Sunday, February 18th at Magic City Music Hall in Johnson City, New York. (A show that was postponed from the night before because of mechanical problems with their bus.)
First off, lets cover the openers. Kill Hannah pleased their fans--and who couldn't love their latest song, "Lips Like Morphine". Those awesome guys even met with their fans and signed autographs after their set.
Next up, It Dies Today---their hard-core screamo tunes were intense---singing and screaming their lungs out with new vocalist, Jason Wood. Their set was solid and satisfying.
Now on to the reason behind the rock...PAPA ROACH! It was unbelieveable---ROCK STARS they definately are and they ROCKED THE PLACE!
From the moment they stepped on stage, the place was insane and rockin' out! The energy was amazing--you couldn't stand still even if you wanted to!
Jacoby Shaddox, lead singer, really knew how to get the crowd going--all he had to command was, "Now Scream," and the audience did as they were told! Even at one point, Jacoby made his way off the stage and into the audience, singing along with fans and definately making it a memorable performance during, "She Loves Me Not."
P Roach's steller night included fan-favorites, "Getting away with Murder", "Scars", "Take Me", "Done with You", filling in with tracks from their new album,The Paramour Sessions, with songs "...To Be Loved" and "Alive N' Outta Control". How could the audience not sing along to the songs that take over your brain! It was definately one damn good night!
The band even took a moment out to have the whole venue sing Happy Birthday to guitarist, Jerry Horton's wife, Jessica Lee, a former Playboy playmate and native from this area of New York.
A powerful night with a stellar performance that showed Papa Roach was there to rock and entertain the crowd, not just play for them! Long live P Roach!
